The story behind CurrencyFreaks
A small team out of Lahore, Pakistan, building no-fuss currency data for 1000+ world currencies - fiat, metals and crypto.
Who we are
CurrencyFreaks is operated and maintained by APIFreaks, the umbrella over a family of developer APIs we write and run ourselves: IPGeolocation, WhoisFreaks, ScreenshotAPI, CurrencyFreaks and CommodityPriceAPI. We have been building data infrastructure from Lahore, Pakistan since 2016, and our first API, IPGeolocation, went into production in 2018. Not one of our products is someone else's API with our name on it.
After seeing developers struggle to find a stable, clean and economical currency API, we built CurrencyFreaks - reliable, accurate and regularly updated data for 1044 world currencies, including 166 fiat currencies, 4 precious metals and 874 cryptocurrencies, sourced from authoritative foreign exchange and crypto exchanges. The data, the pipelines, the infrastructure and the support behind it are the same ones running across every APIFreaks API.
Those precious metals kept generating the same request: teams already trusting us for FX wanted deeper gold and silver, then crude oil, natural gas, wheat and copper. Rather than bolt a half-solution onto an FX product, we built CommodityPriceAPI as its own service.
APIFreaks has been customer-funded since its first invoice - no investors, no board, and no roadmap we didn't choose.
